Don't be fooled; A camp in October does not enable a swimmer to PB! It is so much more...
Let's be honest - The whole team from Soundwell SC who travelled to the Canary Islands were really impressed with the pool and the accomodation. All the athletes thought the food was very good. Transport was excellent and the journey time to and from the airport was great. From our camp's perspective we had a awesome week. Swimmers quickly realised that this was not a holiday but an opportunity to:-
> Train harder in a pleasant environment
> Build team spirit and gel
> Work on area's of weakness (ie; Land Training)
> Get fit / Keep fit
> Be with friends
We had several broken sets (ie; 4x50m = 200m Time Trial) throughout the week. However, on the last day all athletes produced their best ever training results. The camp was labelled by many as
''HARD but FUN''.
2011 Details
* Fuertaventura, Canary Islands, October 1/2 Term 2011
* Names to Cath Dawe by Wednesday 22nd December 2010
* £300 deposit to Cath Dawe by Wednesday 2nd February 2011
Installments there after... (over 6 month period)
* Estimated cost; £650 - £750 (Depending on your attendance to fund raising events)
* 1st Fund Raising Event; Sponsored Swim - Saturday 27th February 2011
Swimmers in 2010 averaged between £50-£150 each from our fundraisers
* Camp will run with a minimum of 14 and a maximum of 36 swimmers
* Camp will include a minimum of 1 coach, 1 land trainer and 3-5 chaperones (Numbers depending)
* Additional spaces may be offered to swimmers from other clubs at the discretion of the Head Coach
2011 Swimmer Criteria
x Age 11yrs & Over
x Gold (County) Squad, Platinum (Top County) Squad, Performance (Regional & Above) and Senior
Club Squad / Masters swimmers are all welcome
x Be in full training (4 sessions / over per week) and fully fit
x Attend with the intention of further increasing attendance to training and competition upon arrival
back in the UK
x Attendance to all 12 swimming / 5 land training sessions whilst on the camp will be mandatory
x Wear the Soundell shirt with pride and behave impeccably at all times
