Important Announcement

Soundwell Swimming to Join City of Bristol Aquatics Network

Over the past few months Soundwell Swimming Club and City of Bristol Aquatics have been working together to create a new elite pathway within the confines of their current Club’s structures.

We are delighted to announce that as of Friday 22nd January 2016 Soundwell Swimming Club will become a City of Bristol Aquatics Network Club. The aim of the Swim21 Club Network is to quality assure clubs who work collaboratively to deliver the athlete pathway in their area and to ensure that all athletes meet their potential and are retained in the sport.

Along with Backwell SC, Bath Dolphin SC, Bishopsworth SC, Bristol Central  SC and Keynsham Swimming SC, we have agreed to work together with City of Bristol Aquatics to deliver a full long term athlete development pathway, enhancing opportunities for all, increasing & sustaining membership and developing our teams of volunteers.

It is agreed that we will work towards the following objectives:

  • Retain and increase ASA club members

  • Retain and increase volunteers, teachers, coaches and officials

  • Raise the standards of performance across appropriate aquatic disciplines

Head Coach Jon Wills commented; ‘’Soundwell Swimming Club are looking forward to creating an elite pathway for talented swimmers to remain in the Bristol area and have access to one of the best facilities in the UK. We are also excited at the prospect of being able to work with and learn from all five Network Clubs.’’

Soundwell Chair Rhona Phelps added; “this is a very exciting new initiative for our club, the competition and training provided through the network will also increase opportunities for all our swimmers and provide additional support for our coaches and volunteers.”
