Mini Series Round 1, 28th March
2009
Well done to all the
swimmers who took part in the Mini Series Gala at
Easton. It was an outstanding result , but better
than winning was the standard of swimming. There are
areas to work on, there always will be, but overall
the stroke technique, starts & turns have improved
and the results were obvious. Every swimmer played
their part and you should all be proud of what you
achieved together.
Thanks to all who
helped 'wetside' and thanks to those parents 'dryside'
who cheered the team on. |

Southern Junior League Final, Saturday
20th June 2009 At the
start,
if we were told that we were going to finish 2nd on
the night we would of taken it. We still finished 1st in more
races than any other club. The team spirit was excellent, our PB
rate good and we beat two local teams above us in the National
league.
2007 we finished 17th, last
year we could not field a team, this year (2009) fingers
crossed, we've moved inside top 10 in the South West. League
table to be confirmed.

Congratulations to the whole
team (Swimmers/Coaches/Team
Managers/Judges/Timekeepers/Parents), a very successful league
campaign. We look forward to 2010. |

Southern Junior League
Round 2, 16th May 2009
A fair result.
The three winning teams from Gala 1 in April finished 1st-3rd. However, a fantastic display by our swimmers saw us finish just 9
points short of Chard (National League Premier Division Club).
We managed to record 3 first place finishes (Georgia / Danny Pirret & Evie Reed) and clock 36 race times faster than those
achieved in Round 1. The
result was much better than we'd originally expected - we look forward to round
3, the final (Expect 'fastest first' selection policy for every
event) |

Southern Junior League
Round 1, 18th April 2009
In a gala dominated by the
2008 League Champions - Bournemouth Dolphins, Soundwell
Swimming Club sealed an important 2nd place finish
against strong opposition. The team arrived early,
participated in group mobility and held a pre race prep
talk for the first time. Throughout the evening several
PB's were clocked and three 1st place finishes were
recorded (Danny Pirret, Evie Reed & Will Cole).
However, our consistent 2nd/3rd place finishes scored
valuable points and gave us a well deserved 2nd overall.
Congratulations to the
whole squad. NB - All swimmers are
requested to remain pool deck until the galas conclusion
and final results have been announced. |

Western County Age
Championships, June 2009
9 Swimmers qualified this year,
more than many Gloucester County based clubs. George Ashton and
Bronwen Choules gained valuable long course experience and
matched their short course entry times. Will Harrison and Luke
Height took home small converted PB's and ranked well. Jake
Bayly qualified for several events and hit large PB's over both
weekends. Georgia Pirret, despite ranking 35th in the 100
backstroke pulled off the largest PB (9 secs) and finished 9th,
just missing out on her first final.
Will Cole managed 5 finals, taking
three 4th's and two 6th's. Enough to earn him 8th place overall
in the 10yrs age category. Danny Pirret took a BRONZE in the 400
freestyle along with two 5th's and an 8th. Evie Reed made two
finals, finishing 6th and 7th.
An excellent display by the whole
team, congratulations to all the swimmers and coaches involved. |
